Senior Spotlight: Mario Flores

Mario Flores

Mario Flores of Granville, IL is an airport management major with a  minor in Spanish  graduating in summer 2020. Other organizations  Mario has been a part of  include the American Association of Airport Executives, Grand Forks Airport Civilian Emergency  Response Team, Experimental Aircraft Association, Swing Club, Climbing Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, UND First Generation Club, Nonprofit Leadership Student Association, Hall government, and The Wildlife Society.

One of Mario’s favorite memories of DU is the blue book tradition during initiation week. He explains that “during this time everyone is able to hear stories from old and new members, while learning even more about their brothers and the house as a whole. The best part is that it brings the upper and lower classmen together while enhancing the house’s heritage.”

When asked what DU has done for him, Mario says that “DU has been an influential point of my college life. It was able to encourage me to take the steps needed to excel socially but, even more importantly, excel academically. When I first joined, I was averaging 2.8 GPA, but I was able to finish this semester with a 4.0. DU also gave me the opportunity to give back to the society. After graduation, Mario plans interning at several airports across the country to gain experience and knowledge before settling down in one location.
