Newspaper snippets announcing North Dakota Chapter in 1962

In January 1960, the dean of students at the University of North Dakota saw a lack of focus toward academics among the fraternities. He set out with academic achievement as a prerequisite in recruiting men to a new organization at the University of North Dakota.

The North Dakota Chapter of Delta Upsilon Fraternity was installed in January 1962 with a commitment to the advancement of justice, the promotion of friendship, the development of character, and the diffusion of liberal culture. This commitment to a lifetime experience of brotherhood, academic achievement, and our four founding principles carries on today as Delta Upsilon challenges good men to become difference makers.

ND Delta Upsilon Installation – December 1961

Delta Upsilon at UND has been the defining experience for more than 1,000 young men and it continues to be an essential part of the personal growth and professional development of tomorrow’s leaders. We take pride in our oath to a non-secret, non-hazing fraternity as we are proud of who we are and what we stand for.

Our alumni rolls are chock full of success stories as each of us was supported by other men of intention and achievement when we were undergraduates. Our alumni graduate to successful and distinguished careers, all while giving back to their friends, family, and communities. We are now called on to ensure our legacy continues for at least another 60 years and that the future generations of select men at UND have a home and community of excellence to support their growth and dreams.
