The spring semester has presented the North Dakota chapter with hurdle after hurdle. In late March, the University of North Dakota, amid the coronavirus pandemic, switched entirely to online instruction for the rest of the spring and summer semesters. Along with no inperson classes, the university opted for virtual spring and summer commencement. We had to make difficult, but necessary decisions to cancel our infamous quesadilla feed philanthropy, alumni/parents formal, and postpone spring initiation to August 21, 2020.
The future is still filled with uncertainties, but what I am certain of is this chapter’s drive to be better. Last fall, the chapter started the academic year off with 12 active members and ranking near the bottom of Greek grades. Today, we earned a 3.52 all member GPA for the spring semester, have 36 volunteer hours per member during the academic year, and are going into the upcoming semester with 28 members! Although we were forced apart by the global pandemic, we are able to stay motivated and connected virtually. I am very proud to lead these driven men. Let’s get DU back to its former glory!
Fraternally,
